Leicester Paul Beaufort

Leicester Paul Beaufort (1853 Warburton, Greater Manchester - 1926), was a British barrister and colonial governor of North Borneo.

Biography

Beaufort was the son of Daniel Augustus Beaufort and his wife Emily Newel, née Davis. His grandfather on the paternal side was Rear Admiral Sir Francis Beaufort.[1] During his term of office as a governor of North Borneo, the administration of Labuan was also within the scope of responsibility of the governor of North Borneo.[2] Beaufort officiated in Fort Jameson as Chief Justice from 1901 and then as acting Administrator from January 1909 to the 16th May 1911 of North-Eastern Rhodesia (Barotseland).[3][4]
